Embracing the Whole Woman: Honoring Motherhood, Health, and Mental Wellness This May

As May blossoms with new life, it brings with it a beautiful opportunity to honor the heart, health, and wholeness of women—especially mothers. At Her Winning Approach to a Blessed Life, we believe that God calls us not just to care for others, but to care for ourselves as well—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

This month, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, let’s take a moment to acknowledge the countless women—biological mothers, spiritual mothers, aunties, mentors, and nurturers—who pour out love, wisdom, and strength daily. Proverbs 31:25 reminds us, “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” Whether you’re raising children, raising a business, or raising your voice for change, your divine assignment is powerful and worthy of celebration.

But we must also pause to check in on the woman behind the strength. May is also Women’s Health Month and Mental Health Awareness Month, and God cares about your total well-being. 3 John 1:2 says, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” True prosperity includes peace of mind, emotional healing, and physical vitality.

Here are 3 Winning Approaches to Embrace This Month:

1. Prioritize Your Health Without Guilt

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Schedule that doctor’s appointment. Take that walk. Drink that water. Rest without apology. When you prioritize your health, you position yourself to show up stronger for your purpose—and for the people you love.

2. Guard Your Mental Space with the Word

Renew your mind daily. Speak life over yourself. Give yourself grace on the hard days. Practice mental rest by creating quiet moments to journal, pray, or simply be. Philippians 4:8 encourages us to dwell on things that are true, noble, right, pure, and lovely—this is the mental nutrition we need to thrive.

3. Celebrate the Mother in You

Whether you’re mothering children, ideas, or ministries, honor your nurturing nature. Give yourself credit for the seeds you’ve sown in others and the growth you’ve cultivated in yourself. You are a builder, a warrior, a vessel of wisdom—and you are winning.
